Continuing with our believe theme from Part 1 We’re taking a walk through the entire book of John from beginning to end focused on Salvation. Be sure you open up your Bible and follow along. If you haven’t read John I encourage you to start from the beginning.

Amount of times the word ‘believe’ is used in John 9-16: 34, ‘believe in Him’: 5

John 9

John 9:2-3

His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” ³ “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.

Jesus will heal the blind man and in turn bring salvation to others.

John 9:18

They still did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight until they sent for the man’s parents

The Pharisees didn’t believe.

John 9:24-30

A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. “Give glory to God by telling the truth,” they said. “We know this man is a sinner.” ²⁵ He replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!” ²⁶ Then they asked him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?” ²⁷ He answered, “I have told you already and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples too?”

The Pharisees don’t believe. The Blind man is being sarcastic with the pharisees here by saying ‘Do you want to become his disciples too?’ This clearly agitates them further.

John 9:28-30

Then they hurled insults at him and said, “You are this fellow’s disciple! We are disciples of Moses! ²⁹ We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this fellow, we don’t even know where he comes from.” ³⁰ The man answered, “Now that is remarkable! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes.

The blind man throws more sarcasm at the Pharisees.

John 9:31

We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will.

This is an interesting passage because the pharisees are saying they are not sinners and God only listens to godly people who do Gods will. They are obviously arrogant, prideful, and don’t know Christ. What is Gods will? Look back to John 6:39

this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day

John 9:35-38

³⁵ Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” ³⁶ “Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.” ³⁷ Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.” ³⁸ Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.

Salvation Believe in His Name: This is  salvation summed up in a few sentences. 35, Jesus calls on the formally blind man. 36, The blind asks ‘enable me’ so I may believe. 37, Jesus reveals himself. 38, the man accepts him as Lord and Savior. The man falls down in worship.

John 10

John 10:3-10

To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.” 6 This figure of speech Jesus spoke to them, but they did not understand what those things were which He had been saying to them.

7 So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and [a]have it abundantly.

Salvation cannot be Lost: 3, Christ calls us. 4, we follow him. 5, we wont follow anyone else. 10, Jesus saves! If we believe we WILL be saved.

John 10:14-16

 I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me, ¹⁵ even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. ¹⁶ I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd

Salvation cannot be Lost: Again you hear Jesus’ guarantee that his sheep know him and he will bring others into His flock. Permanent. Guaranteed.

John 10:17-18

For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again. ¹⁸ No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.

Jesus is Lord: Listen to the powerful language and authority of Jesus here. Truly saying how He and the Father are one. The Father loves Me because “I” Jesus, lay down My life that “I” Jesus may take it up again. “I” Jesus have the authority to lay it down and take it up again.  The commandment “I” received from My Father. For my Jehovah witness friends this isn’t the language of a creation but a Creator.

John 10:24-25

The Jews then gathered around Him, and were saying to Him, “How long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.” ²⁵ Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father’s name, these testify of Me. ²⁶ But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep.

The Jews demand he speak plainly and they don’t believe. Why? They are not of His sheep.

John 10:27-30

²⁷ My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; ²⁸ and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. ²⁹ My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. ³⁰ I and the Father are one.”

Salvation in Christ: It is Christ who call us, enables us. When we accept Him as Lord and Savior Jesus says “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, no one will snatch them out of My hand.” ~ permanent salvation. If no one will snatch Christ’s sheep out of His hand how is it that anyone could possibly think they could of their own free will, remove themselves from His hand?

Jesus is Lord: First Jesus says no one will snatch them out of My hand. Then, no one will snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one. Think about that. The point Jesus is making is the point he’s been making over and over again. That he is God. The very reason they killed him. The unbelieving Jews, the believing Christians, and John definitely without question know that this is exactly what Jesus is saying.

John 10:37-38

If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; ³⁸ but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father.”

Jesus is Lord: Jesus is once again claiming he is God and the Pharisees once again try to seize Him. Jesus has already talked about the works of My Father. Refer back John 5:16-18! Jesus isn’t saying believe my works and ‘trying’ to save them. They are already condemned. Knowing what the Pharisees will do (seeking to kill him), and that they don’t believe Jesus is saying believe I am actually saying that I AM(God).

John 10:41-42

Many came to Him and were saying, “While John performed no sign, yet everything John said about this man was true.” ⁴² Many believed in Him there

Salvation – Believe in His name:

John 11

John 11:3-4

So the sisters sent word to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.” ⁴ But when Jesus heard this, He said, “This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it.” 5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.

Jesus will raise Lazuras from the dead and from this many will come to believe in Him. Jesus loved Martha and her sister because they are his sheep.

John 11:13-14

13 Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking of [b]literal sleep. 14 So Jesus then said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead, 15 and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let us go to him.”

Jesus will raise Lazuras from the dead so they may believe. This is how Jesus will reveal himself.

John 11:21-27

Martha then said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 Even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.” 23 Jesus *said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha *said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” 27 She *said to Him, “Yes, Lord; I have believed that You are [f]the Christ, the Son of God, even [g]He who comes into the world.”

Salvation – Believe in His name: 25-26 – Jesus reveals himself. 27 – Martha confesses and accepts Him as Lord and Savior.

John 11:28

When she had said this, she went away and called Mary her sister, saying secretly, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.” ²⁹ And when she heard it, she *got up quickly and was coming to Him.

Jesus calls Mary

John 11:31

Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and consoling her, when they saw that Mary got up quickly and went out, they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there.

Others followed and will come to believe in Him.

John 11:34-37

34 and said, “Where have you laid him?” They *said to Him, “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus wept. 36 So the Jews were saying, “See how He loved him!” 37 But some of them said, “Could not this man, who opened the eyes of the blind man, [i]have kept this man also from dying?”

Some believe, others don’t. Some are His sheep others aren’t.

John 11:40

Jesus *said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”

Martha questions Jesus about the stench of death if they move the stone on the tomb.

John 11:41-42

 41 So they removed the stone. Then Jesus raised His eyes, and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 I knew that You always hear Me; but because of the [k]people standing around I said it, so that they may believe that You sent Me.”

This is the way Jesus reveals himself to the people who will come to believe in Him.

John 11:45-46

Therefore many of the Jews who came to Mary, and saw what He had done, believed in Him. ⁴⁶ But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them the things which Jesus had done.

Some believed, others didn’t.

John 11:48-49

48 If we let Him go on like this, all men will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.” 49 But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all, 50 nor do you take into account that it is expedient for you that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish.”

The Chief priests love their own sin and lifestyle very much. See Psalm 64:5-6

John 11:51

51 Now he did not say this [m]on his own initiative, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,

God moved the unbelieving man to say this.

John 12

John 12:4-6

4But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was intending to betray Him, said, 5“Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to poor people?” 6Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it.

Judas was never saved.

John 12:13-15

took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began to shout, “Hosanna! BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, even the King of Israel.” 14Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written, 15“FEAR NOT, DAUGHTER OF ZION; BEHOLD, YOUR KING IS COMING, SEATED ON A DONKEY’S COLT.”

Jesus is Lord and Savior: This refers to Zechariah:9 “He is just and endowed with salvation,”

John 12:23-25

23 And Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified 24“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. 25“He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal.

In verse 24 Jesus is referring to himself. In 25 Jesus is not talking about salvation rather sanctification. The words are “keep it TO life eternal.” Don’t confuse this with do this to ‘obtain’ or ‘maintain’ eternal life. If you love your life (living for today) or not being the Christian God calls us to be you will bear no fruit  (You will see another fruit example in John 15). Meaning you wont bring others to Christ or Glorify God. Just as Jesus is talking about in verse 24. He who hates his life means denying self. Denying the desires of the flesh. Not being perfect by any means but hating your sin. See Romans 7:13-25 for a good example of struggling with sin. In verse 15 we see “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do.”

John 12:36

36“While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light.”

John 12:37-40

 37But though He had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him. 38This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke: “LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT? AND TO WHOM HAS THE ARM OF THE LORD BEEN REVEALED?” 39For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again, 40“HE HAS BLINDED THEIR EYES AND HE HARDENED THEIR HEART, SO THAT THEY WOULD NOT SEE WITH THEIR EYES AND PERCEIVE WITH THEIR HEART, AND BE CONVERTED AND I HEAL THEM.”

Salvation – Believe in His name: The saw the wonders and signs but still didn’t believe. Why? Because the Lord hadn’t revealed himself. For this reason they could not believe.

John 12:41

41These things Isaiah said because he saw His glory, and he spoke of Him.

Jesus is God! In Isaiah 6:1 we read “1In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple.”

In a video about how to engage with Jehovah witnesses Dr. James White says – “The translation of the old testament that the new testament writers are quoting is the Greek Septuagint. Rarely do they quote from the Hebrew Testament. They quote from the Greek which is what their readers would have been using at the time. So when John writes:
“with the train of His robe filling the temple”, this is the Hebrew translation. However,  in Greek it says “And I saw His Glory”

The exact words quoted in John 12. John knowing what his readers would be reading made sure that they knew exactly what text he was referring too. And exactly what point he was making. John identifies Jesus as Yahweh “

Also in Isaiah 10:11 “I, even I, am the Lord, And there is no savior besides Me.” Jesus is Lord & Savior!

John 12:42-46

Nevertheless many even of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing Him, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue; 43for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God.

44 And Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, does not believe in Me but in Him who sent Me. 45“He who sees Me sees the One who sent Me. 46“I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.

Jesus is God: 44 He is God, 45 He is God, 46 everyone who believes WILL NOT remain in darkness. It is not Will not remain in darkness unless he or she chooses too go back into darkness. Jesus saves perfectly and doesn’t fail. Salvation cannot be lost.

John 12:47-48

47“If anyone hears My sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. 48“He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day

Salvation cannot be lost: We wont keep his commandments perfectly. But we wont be judged because we are saved by Faith. Because we believe! His sheep hear his sayings. If you’re not of his sheep you reject him and do not ‘receive’ His saying. They are under the law and will be judged at the last day.

John 12:49-50

“For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak. 50“I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.”

Salvation – believe in His name: His commandment is eternal life. See John 6:28, John 6:39-40

John 13

John 13:18-19

18I am not speaking about all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the Scripture: ‘The one who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’ 19I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it comes to pass, you will believe that I am He

Jesus is Lord God and savior! Jesus is quoting directly from Isaiah 43:10

“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord,  “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.

John 13:20

20Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever receives the one I send receives Me, and whoever receives Me receives the One who sent Me.”

Make no mistake. Jesus is telling us He is Lord.

John 13:27

27After Judas took the piece of bread, Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to Judas, “What you are about to do, do quickly.

Jesus commands Satan.

John 13:31-32

“Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him. 32If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify the Son in Himself—and will glorify Him at once.

John 13:34-35

A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another. 35By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”

Remember this new commandment. We are to love one another as he has loved us.

John 13:36

36“Lord, where are You going?” Simon Peter asked. Jesus answered, “Where I am going, you cannot follow Me now, but you will follow later.”

You WILL follow. Salvation is secure in the Lord.

John 14

John 14:1

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe in Me as well

John 14:6

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. 7If you had known Me, you would know My Father as well. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”

Salvation is in Christ alone: Jesus is the only way to eternal life. There is no other name in which we can be saved.

Jesus is God: If you know Jesus you know the Father. If you seen Jesus then you have seen the Father.

Salvation cannot be Lost: From now on you do know Him and have seen Him! You can’t unsee Him, you can’t unknow Him, you can’t unbelieve.

John 14:9-11

Jesus replied, “Philip, I have been with you all this time, and still you do not know Me? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, carrying out His work. 11Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me—or at least believe because of the works themselves.

Jesus is God: Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. I am in the Father and the Father is in Me (I and the Father are one).

John 14:12-13

Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.

What are the works the believers will also be doing? Leading others to Him! When Jesus goes to the Father He will send The Holy Spirit.

John 14:15

If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

Does this mean now believing in Him isn’t enough? And now he’s commanding us to keep the 10 commandments as well? No. Jesus does not contradict Himself. Remember in John 13:34 Jesus says ‘a new commandment I give you. Love one another.’

John 14:16-17

I will ask the Father, and He will give you another [b]Helper, that He may be with you forever; 17 that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

Holy Trinity: People who deny the Trinity say it’s not found in scripture. But God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – 3 divine persons – one eternal being can be clearly found in God’s Word.

Holy Spirit is God: Jesus refers to a “Helper” that “He”(a person) will be with you forever;

Salvation cannot be Lost: He (God the Holy Spirit) will be with you forever. Unbelievers don’t know Him or see Him(The Spirit – a person), but you (Believers) know Him because He abides with you and WILL be in you. This is permanent. You can’t free will the Spirit out of yourself.

John 14:18-19

18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 [c]After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. 20 In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) *said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.

There is so much in these verses it’s hard unpack.

Holy Spirit: Verse 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I WILL come to you. How? The Holy Spirit.

Salvation cannot be Lost: Verse 19: Another guarantee that believers will see Jesus, will know Jesus, and most importantly ‘because I live, you WILL live also.’ Eternal life is given to those who believe in Him. It’s not taken away. Verse 20:  Jesus is in the Father, Believers in Christ, and Christ in us. This cannot be undone anymore than Christ can remove himself from the Father. Because as Jesus says “I and the Father are one.” ~ John 10:30.

Commandments: ” He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who Loves Me. ” Do not confuse this with Jesus saying “if you keep the 10 commandments  “in addition” to believing I’ll continue to keep you saved.” or “If you Love me, you will do everything I command” or “I wont give you eternal life if you don’t do what I tell you.”  Do not take away Christ’s power to save or deny what Jesus has been saying over and over again. Because Jesus Lives all those who believe WILL live also.

Verse 23 “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word;” How do we keep his word?? Remember John 8:47 speaking to the pharisees “He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God.” How do we love Jesus? 1 John 4:19 We love because He first loved us. How do we believe? Jesus enables us, and draws us to Him. John 6:44.

Still Not convinced? If you still think that you have to obey ‘do something’ in addition to believing I only ask you pray on this and reread John.

John 3:16, 3:18, 3:36, 5:13, 5:24, 6:35, 6:37-39, 6:40, 6:47, John 10:3-10, 10:27-30, 11:25-27, 12:46, 14:6 are still there. Jesus calls His sheep, we respond. He gives us eternal life, of His sheep Jesus shall lose none but will raise them up on the last day. This is repeated over and over and over. Do not take away the power of Christ who saves to the uttermost.

Romans 5:8 – 1 John 4:19 We love because He first loved us. Loving Jesus is NOT obeying Jesus. Obeying is the result of loving Jesus. Salvation is not because of YOU it’s because of HIM!

John 15

John 15:1-8

 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

Sanctification: As we grow in our faith we will face hardships (like convincing others Christ alone saves us from our sins), but we continue to trust in God and by working through those hardships we will bear fruit by blessing others, and bringing other to Christ. We are already clean (saved) because of Him. If we try to do things on our own or do things our way we can stumble. If we don’t trust we are LIKE a branch that is thrown away and withers.

John 15:10-17

¹⁰ If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. ¹¹ I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. ¹² My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. ¹³ Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. ¹⁴ You are my friends if you do what I command. ¹⁵ I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. ¹⁶ You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. ¹⁷ This is my command: Love each other.

Sanctification: Again, do not confuse if you keep my commands, I will keep you saved.  Verse 11 he tells us this so that our joy may be complete. If Jesus is saying keep my commands, or else! how could our joy be complete? Verse 14: Jesus isn’t saying “if you don’t do what I say, then I’m not going to save you.”. He is teaching us how we can determine who is/isn’t a Christian. Jesus knows but we don’t.

What commands? John 13:34 ‘a new commandment I give you. Love one another.’, Verse 12, “Love each other as I have loved you.”, Verse 17, this is MY command: Love each other! He’s not asking us to keep the law! How do we Love? 1 John 4:19

Salvation cannot be lost. Why? He chose His disciples, and appointed them so that they may bear fruit that will last. This is a guarantee. This isn’t a maybe. Jesus is telling them what WILL come to pass. He has already told them they are already clean. This isn’t a temporary cleaning.

John 16

John 16:7-11

⁷ But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. ⁸ When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: ⁹ about sin, because people do not believe in me; ¹⁰ about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; ¹¹ and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

Holy Spirit: Verse 7-9 The Holy Spirit is a person. Jesus refers to the Spirit as “the Advocate” and “I will send him to you.” – When “he” comes, “he” will prove the world to be wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment.

John 16:13-15

¹³ But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. ¹⁴ He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. ¹⁵ All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”

Holy Spirit: he will guide you into all the truth.

Holy Trinity: Here we see a beautiful picture of the divine Trinity. 3 divine persons – 1 being. 

• Holy Spirit – “the Spirit of truth” guides you in all truth and speaks what he hears (John 14:6 Jesus is the way the truth and the life). He (the Spirit) will glorify Jesus. “John 14:16-17 – The Spirit of truth the world does not know Him or see Him but you know Him because He abides in you.” Jesus has made clear salvation is through believing in Him but says the same thing of the Spirit. They are one.
• God the Father – All that belongs to the Father is mine. Alllllll. That’s a bold statement if Jesus isn’t God. Remember: John 10:29-30 “I and the Father are one”  They are truly one.
• God the Son – The Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you. Christ abides in us when the Spirit abides in us. If you seen the Son you have seen the Father (John 14:9) if you have the Spirit in you, you have Christ in you (John 6:56).

Our God is three in one!!

John 16:27

No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God

John 16:29-33

Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. ³⁰ Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.”

³¹ “Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. ³² “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.

³³ “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

In verse 31 Jesus isn’t saying this because he is surprise it’s more like “really? You believe ha? because you are all going to run for your lives and hide soon.”
